Established in 2004 following the government’s plan to make 'joined-up' public services a reality, BaS LIFT is a joint venture company that delivers cutting-edge health and social care infrastructure.

John Taylor

Independent Chairman

John is an experienced business general manager. Most of his career was spent with Cadbury Schweppes Plc where he held a number of senior positions including two Managing Director posts. He holds a number of other appointments, including being a Trustee of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and also works as an independent business consultant.

Ewan Forsyth

Director

Ewan brings energy and enthusiasm to every project. Working for BaS LIFT's private sector development partner, Prime, he specialises in healthcare infrastructure, in particular across the Birmingham and Solihull region. Due to his rigorous approach throughout the development phase, Ewan delivers innovatively designed, high specification buildings at an affordable price. He is also highly experienced in multi-stakeholder developments, with his knowledge of site assembly and mixed ownership models helping deliver exemplar healthcare schemes and models of best practice. Ewan was also project director for the new Birmingham Dental Hospital & School of Dentistry.

Richard Williams

Director

Integral to setting up BaS LIFT, Richard acts as Commercial Director and leads on all commercial aspects of its activities. As part of his role, he is responsible for monitoring the legal and commercial aspects of each stage of development transactions. He underpins BaS LIFT's approach to partnership working, ensuring each and every transaction is fair for all parties and will fully deliver the client’s requirements. From securing funding arrangements that are robust, to ensuring leases provide operational flexibility, his work is centred on delivering best value to the client.

Julian Keyte

Director

Julian has overall responsibility for the management and investment performance of the BaS LIFT property portfolio. With a wealth of experience in property management and construction, he ensures all buildings are specified to maximise performance for the end user, as well as the ability to maintain the building in practical and cost effective terms.

Committed to continually improving the quality of healthcare facilities, he also manages the lifecycle performance of BaS LIFT's buildings, focusing on the influence of design, materials and construction on reducing energy usage and operating costs.

Mark Grinonneau

Director

Mark works closely with partners across health, local authorities and the private sector to lead and support a strategic approach to the planning, utilisation and disposal of the primary healthcare and community estate. With a clear focus on driving efficiencies and delivering savings, Mark delivers high quality professional Strategic Estate Planning and Asset Management Services, promoting better service integration to drive improvements in efficiency and better health outcomes for patients.

Paul Sherriff

Director

As Assistant Accountable Officer and Head of Corporate Services for Birmingham CrossCity Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Paul is responsible for establishing corporate governance, risk and assurance arrangements, as well as ensuring all CCG statutory functions are compliant. He also manages the interface with the local Commissioning Support Unit (CSU).

Bob Smaylen

Development Director

As an experienced developer, Bob is responsible for delivering a number of LIFT projects across the country. His knowledge of property development and expertise in areas such as acquisitions, rent reviews and lease renewals gives him the skills to make a scheme succeed. He is experienced in managing multiple stakeholder projects and achieving design and development solutions that respond to clients’ underlying vision and aspirations. Bob also works closely with local and national pharmacy operators to deliver pharmacy developments within BaS LIFT's healthcare buildings.

Ben Gwilliam

Development Manager

As Development Manager, Ben’s role is to manage and co-ordinate development projects from inception to completion, with particular expertise in the delivery of LIFT schemes across Birmingham. Ben’s knowledge of construction enables him to deliver high quality buildings to challenging timescales, with a particular focus on the technical detail. By keeping the clients’ vision at the forefront, Ben ensures their aspirations are successfully translated to the design team, engineers and contractors, with the deliverability of the project always remaining central to his vision.

Emma Pickering

Marketing and Communications Manager

Emma works within the Marketing and Communications team at Prime and is the principle marketing and communications contact for BaS LIFT. Emma is responsible for involving and informing key stakeholders in BaS LIFT schemes.
