Attwood Green Health Centre, Birmingham
This £13 million Attwood Green Health Centre, located in a prominent position along Birmingham’s Bath Row, serves a patient population of c.16,000, bringing together a wide range of health and social care services.
Commissioned by partners Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust and South Birmingham Primary Care Trust, the centre incorporates GP facilities, NHS out-of-hours dental services, an onsite pharmacy, physiotherapy, outpatient clinics, speech and language services, a stop smoking clinic, sexual health services and space to accommodate health visiting teams.
The six storey design mirrors the urban skyline, matching the scale of the surrounding developments. Largely influenced by the views of patients and local community groups, the centre features floor to ceiling glazing and coloured panels on the façade, creating a state-of-the-art, landmark building that inspires local pride.
The development of the new centre also complements Birmingham City Council’s 'Park Central’ initiative to transform Attwood Green and is one of the biggest urban regeneration projects in Europe.
